AP US Government and Politics is a full-year course that will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of how the US government operates. To accomplish this task, students will memorize data as well as develop analytical perspectives for interpreting, understanding, and explaining political events in this country. The major topics included in this course are: Foundations of American Democracy, Interactions Among Branches of Government, Civil liberties and Civil Rights, American Political Ideologies and Beliefs, and Political Participation. AP US Government and Politics is a rigorous course in keeping with Advanced Placement standards and will be taught as a college level course.
