Government is a one-semester course designed to be a study of American government from a Christian perspective. Beginning with the basic theories of government, the students explore the principles behind the democratic process. Students examine the ideas of democracy through examination of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, national and state governments. Students are encouraged to take an active part in the learning process through the use of lectures, debates, the use of media (video, newspapers, and the Internet), and individual research. As a result, the students will gain a greater understanding of the cause and effects of the philosophy behind democracy as we know it.

In this course, we will study relationships between people, places, and environments by mapping information about them into a spatial context.  We will focus on current events taking place in the world today.  We will utilize a variety of approaches towards learning Geography including lectures, Internet resources, group projects, class debates, Wiki pages, geography games, videos, and the newspaper.
